Dalia Malek
Dalia Malek is an Early Career Fellow in International Law (Human Rights) at the University of Edinburgh School of Law. She teaches International Migration and Refugee Law and her research focuses on climate change displacement, indirect refoulement, the use of new technologies in migration border control, and the protection of refugees in the African regional system of international human rights law.
She has held positions at UNHCR and various NGOs, working directly with refugees and asylum-seekers in the areas of legal aid, refugee status determination, resettlement, and immigration detention, as well as conducting legal research on issues of human rights, citizenship, and forced migration. She holds a PhD in Law from King’s College London, as well as an MA in International Human Rights Law and a Graduate Diploma in Forced Migration and Refugee Studies from the American University in Cairo.
